    BMX: The Fitness Factor

    Today, you’re nothing if you ain’t fit. Unfortunately, the well trodden routes to perfect fitness are often distinctly boring. It doesn’t have to be this way however, and all strenuous activities will generate great fitness levels, even something as fun as BMX-ing!

    The best fitness regimes are ones that work on a number of levels. So, whilst on the one hand you will want to build core strength with an exercise regime, you will also, ideally, want to try and enhance cardiovascular health.

    As BMX is such a versatile sport, it is therefore ideal for offering a fitness regime that “covers all the bases,” whatever kind of BMX-ing you want to do, or how advanced you are. For instance, a freestyle BMX rider will constantly be working on building there stamina, and certain actions, such as standing up on a bike, will act to increase core strength considerably.

    On a more simple level, just the act of riding daily will be enough to help you advance your cardiovascular health. This is significant because cardiovascular diseases are still the most common causes of mortality in the UK, and therefore any activity that can bolster cardiovascular health is important.

    You might believe that taking up BMX just for the health benefits might be a little “extreme;” but surely its the extreme-ness of BMX-ing that makes it so perfect for those who want to exercise, but hate staid old exercise regimes.

    Instead, all you need is a cheap BMX, and access to a safe place to ride, (ideally a BMX park.) By doing this, not only are your health levels likely to increase, but you’re bound to make lots of new friends, who share your passion for riding.
