Let’s count down the best American Idol individual performances of all time!

The mere fact that American Idol is at its 11th season is proof enough of the popularity and quality entertainment provided by the show. At the same time, it makes most think in retrospective mode and create a top of the best individual moments that happened on the stage. Regardless of whether the contestants have won or not, the following performances were voted as the most dramatic and a pure combination of creativity, talent and showmanship. Therefore, the number one performance voted by viewers was Fantasia Barrino’s interpretation of “Summertime” during season 3. Her performance was absolutely breathtaking and since it even left her in tears, it’s no surprise that she won the competition eventually.

Even though he did not capture the viewers’ attention for many consecutive rounds, Elliot Yamin’s interpretation of Donny Hathaway’s “A song for you” was characterized by one member of the jury as a vocal master-class. Elliot’s performance of the song proves his talent and deems him a worthy second place title holder in the best individual performance category. Even though he did not win the 5th edition of American Idol, Chris Daughtry has managed to compel many viewers, as he was voted into third place of the best solo performances with the classic “Walk the line”.

The fourth place of this top is taken by another contestant from the 3rd season, namely Jennifer Hudson. It is fair to say that her position in the top is rather bizarre, considering that her interpretation of the Barry Manilow classic (“Weekend in New England) was the one that decided her elimination. At the same time, the elimination of this later-to-be Grammy Award winner from American Idol stands testimony that the producers are seeking incredible talent, charisma and unique stage presence above all. The fifth place in this individual performance top is occupied by Adam Lambert’s interpretation of the classic “Mad World “. Even though he has accustomed viewers with high energetic performance, dropping the tempo and the amazing dramatic interpretation managed to impress even his greatest skeptics.

“Bohemian rhapsody” is one of the hits that could not miss from the top. Interpreted by Constantine Maroulis, one of the few rockers among the American Idol’s finalists, the performance reached the hearts of the audience and the jury. Another classic hit present in the all-time individual performance top is Aretha Franklin’s “Stuff like that there” interpreted by Kelly Clarkson. After proving she could sing soul music countless times, Kelly Clarkson showed just how versatile she is once she changed the tune and took everyone by surprise.

The 8th spot in the top goes to Clay Aiken and his “Bridge over troubled water” performance, a piece that confirms once again that looks can be deceiving. Haley Reinhart occupies the 9th place in the top as having Lady Gaga as a mentor and the lively changes of new songs combined with oldies, it does not come as a surprise that her interpretation was voted the most dramatic piece of the 10th season. The 10th place in the top is occupied by the winner of season 7 of American Idol, David Cook. His moves and voice during the interpretation of “Billie Jean” almost made everyone think Michael was back on the stage! Whew, boy, this countdown was such a ride down memory lane!
