Managing Fear – To Benefit Your Life

We all experience fear during our life at one time or another. This does not mean to say it is a bad thing! In fact, fear can actually be a great benefit to us.

Experiencing fear as a natural sensation

When we fear something or someone, our heart-rate beats faster and adrenaline rushes through our body. At this moment, a hormone is released into the bloodstream in response to physical or mental stress, as from fear or injury. It initiates many bodily responses, including the stimulation of heart action and an increase in blood pressure, metabolic rate, and blood glucose concentration.

Many scientists believe that fear can actually enhance our awareness and keep us safe.

Challenging fear

We need to challenge ourselves when fear rears its ugly head. We can all be self-critical and apprehensive about trying new things, even if it is simply entering a room full of people. We can all lack confidence, which can restrict us from achieving our true potential.

Experiencing fear can be healthy in many ways. We can all fight it by challenging our feelings.

Fear of failure

The fear of failure can cause great anxiety

To deal with it, we need to stop seeing failure as bad. Failure should be seen as an experience in life. We all make mistakes that we have to learn from. By avoiding failure, you are cutting yourself off from a world of opportunities

Building your confidence

By building your confidence, you will be able to challenge any feelings of fear. Stop worrying about looking stupid. Try new things to test yourself like speaking your mind by expressing your point of view or have your say by talking in a meeting. You have just as much right as everyone else to speak your mind and offer your own opinion. Try it with friends or family first and watch it boost your confidence.

Best wishes
