Preparing For The New Season

Whether you are a tree surgeon or a taxi driver, the saying “out with the old and in with the new” will be familiar to you and you’ll know exactly what it means.

As humans we love to evolve, to give ourselves a fresh start and sometimes even to put the past behind us. An opportunity for a fresh slate adds extra impetus to our lives, making us increasingly productive and creative.

There are many different ways in which people like to turn over a new leaf, but the most common involve cleaning out and preparing the garden, or getting fitter and healthier.

Preparing Your Garden

Having a garden can be something of a rarity, however those of us that have one spend all winter either looking out at it, waiting for the weather to change so we can get out there, or simply ignoring it in the hope that when the weather turns it will miraculously in pristine condition.

However, as the days start to lengthen and spring creeps around the corner and back into our lives there are plenty of things we can do to when we get outside once again. There’s the opportunity to dig and to weed, in preparation for planting trees, flowers or herbs which will blossom in the coming months. On the other hand, growing your own vegetables is becoming increasingly popular and this is a cheap way to get tasty vegetables onto your plate in salads and other such dishes.

Getting Fit

Whatever the time of year, it’s always a good idea to be trim. The health benefits are enormous, as you try to limit the potential of heart disease and diabetes to rip up our life plan. And of course, healthy people tend to look more attractive and can perform better at sports.

The point at where you start is very much up to you and will depend on where you are at the moment, although if you are trying to take on a lot more exercise than you are used to then it will a good idea to consult with a doctor first.

For some, it’s just about being healthy enough to be able to enjoy a nice country walk, to look at all the work done by a tree surgeon without feeling out of breath. For others it’s about being able to step up your exercise plan and perform better at your chosen sport.

Whatever you do, make sure your fresh start pays off!
