There are many ski and hill resorts in Sacramento, which are worth going to, such as the Donner Ski Ranch and Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
The Donner Ski Ranch: This offers all kinds of skiing territory for all ranks of skiers, from beginners to professionals. With a base altitude of 7031 feet, a summit altitude of 7781 feet, and a vertical rise of 750 feet, it has a yearly snowfall of about 33 feet. The amenities available here include a triple chairlift and five double chairlifts. You can spoil yourself by indulging at the cafeteria, cocktail lounge, ski shop, rental shop, and retail shop. You can also avail the facility of a free guided tour of the hill.

The mountain has an altitude of 8,500 ft at the peak, and a yearly snowfall of 30 feet, along with snow making arrangements. It has amenities like two triple chairs, seven double chairs, and two surface lifts. It is open daily from November all through mid-April, from 9am – 4pm, including during the holidays. Parents need not worry, as there are child-care services available for children aged 2 years and older, on weekends and on holidays, the only condition being that the children have to be toilet trained. For those who do not know how to ski, the Ski School provides training facilities.

The Bear Valley Mountain Resort is located on the picturesque all-weather Highway 4, which is situated between two lakes, namely Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. It can be accessed easily from all the parts of Northern California. If you are coming from Sacramento, you must take 99 south to 12 east to 49 south to 4 east and then carry on to Bear Valley.
